Youngsters set the pace in parkrun wins

Youth led the way at Maidstone with Medway and Maidstone under-17s Jake Berry and Lola Wheeler prevailing. Berry also had the top agegraded result of the featured local 5k runs with 83.42% for a personal best 16min 11sec. Andrejs Safars (Medway and Maidstone) and Billie Rouse (under-15) of Medway-based Runfit enjoyed comfortabl­e leading positions at Great Lines. Rouse ran a personal best (20.17) for the leading agegraded result. At Tonbridge, there was a record field of 423 finishers behind M40 master Andrew Mercer, of the local club. Mercer also took the agegrading as Kate Bull went under 20 minutes in the women’s category. Steve Beaney won the battle of Medway Tri club mates at Malling by going three seconds clear of M45 Noel Lyons in a sprint finish. Emma Vickers (W45 Stratford) had a much easier time in the women’s run. Graeme Saker (M50 Tonbridge) made a winning debut at Sittingbou­rne as W50 Karen Seymour (Sittingbou­rne Striders) ensured a double for the over-50 masters.
