Speedwatch: Coxheath Community Speed Watch attended the World Custard Pie Championsh­ips, asking people to see how fast they could go. There were five who ran 18 mph and, finally, 19 mph was attained by Trevor Preston, a magnificen­t achievemen­t. Coffee time: The monthly coffee morning, in aid of Holy Trinity Church, is on Saturday, June 11 from 10am -noon in the Scout hut in Westerhill Road. Everybody is welcome. the Queen’s 90th birthday is being organised by the ringers at St Nicholas Church to take place in and around the churchyard on Sunday June 12 from 1pm-4pm. Tickets are £8 for an adult and £5 for a child 12 years and under. Take your own garden chair and/or rug to sit on plus your own drink and glasses. Tea, coffee and squash will be provided. Royal celebratio­n: Celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday at St Mary’s Church, Sutton Valence, on Sunday, June 12. At 2pm, Michael Beaman will be leading a guided tour of the church and churchyard. At 3pm The Companye of Singers, directed and conducted by Sue Wight, will be singing music sung at The Queen’s coronation and on other royal occasions, and at 4pm cream teas will be served in the churchyard, weather permitting, or in the church. The first was for the conversion of a building to the south of Park House Farm Lenham Road, to provide two dwellings. The other was to erect a two story rear extension to Lynwood House Headcorn Road Grafty Green, and to add a dormer window to the side extension. The council had no objections to either applicatio­n. Evening worship: A service of choral evensong will be held in St Nicholas church, Boughton Malherbe on Sunday, June 12 at 6.30pm. Those who usually attend Tuesday prayers are invited to join members of the L’Arche community for prayers in Grafty Green Village Hall at 9.30am on June 14. Members of the community will be staying in the hall overnight en route for Canterbury. They will walk to Pluckley from Grafty. Messy Church: Ulcombe Village Hall will be the venue for the next Messy Church meeting on Saturday June 18 from 4pm-6pm. About 30 gazebos and other tents will need to be erected from 8.30am on the day of the fete at the Lance Memorial Playing Field. After the fete help, is also needed to take them down from 5.30pm and to pack them away in the Cardwell Pavilion. The work should be over by 7pm. Help is also need on Friday June 10 from 6pm to bring the fete equipment down from the loft in the Cardwell Pavilion. Take a contributi­on of cakes, sandwiches, biscuits, scones or snacks to share. The bar will be open and outside seating will be available, weather permitting. A collection will be make for The Friends of St Mary’s during the event. Cream teas: Sue and Steve Wyles will be serving cream teas in their garden in Bishops Lane to run alongside the next pop-up shop on Sunday, July 10 from 3-5pm. All are welcome to the pop-up shop but due to limited numbers the cream teas are a ticketed event at £5 per head, raising funds for the community orchard. Village Fete: Take your friends, family and dogs along to the Fete on Saturday, June 18 from 2-5pm at the King George V playing fields in West Street.
