Patients Participation Group: Recently there have been some really unpleasant statements made about our Health Centre and its staff on Facebook. If you have any complaints or criticisms about how you have been treated, either medically or administratively, please come along to the next PPG meeting and have your say – at 7.15pm this Wednesday (6th) evening in the Health Centre. The PPG provides an essential conduit for all registered patients at our Health Centre, to voice their concerns and grievances about the treatment and services they receive. To this end, quarterly meetings are held, which all patients of SHC are encouraged to attend. If you would like more information please contact the PPG Liaison group at greenacre@ madasafish.com Wrinkly Road Show: This touring show brings support and advice for the older generation to local communities, and this Tuesday it arrives here – in the Village Centre between 11am and 4pm. So come along if you need help or guidance in any of the following: legal, financial or accounting advice – benefit, adaptation or equipment advice – home care, nursing care or residential home advice – health and well-being advice – computer advice – utility bills – local information or just simply advice on fun things and clubs to do in your area. The Lions carnival raffle raised a total of £608.00, which will be shared by Sobell Lodge (the Leonard Cheshire home in our village) and other local charities. The Lions would like to thank all the volunteers involved for organising the raffle, and everyone who bought tickets. The prizes were drawn by Emmy Wren, the daughter of one of the main sponsors, Doves Funerals. The Paddock Wood & Distirict Lions Club raises many thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes every year (including Santa’s Sleigh). If you would like to find out more about the Lions, please go to their website at paddockwoodlions.co.uk – or contact a Paulina Watson on 07950914580. The Lions would like to thank all the sponsors for their generosity in providing the prizes, and a full list of both winners and sponsors can be found on their website. Carnival and Fete: Despite the unpredictable weather our community came together to enjoy carnival day. Many of the local clubs and organisations which serve our community were represented, and many local businesses took the opportunity to show-case their products and services. The dog show proved to be a great success, with the local canine population coming out in force – so many thanks to Maidstone Borough Council for organising such a popular event. If anyone is interested in volunteering for any of our community events please make contact on the Staplehurst Carnival Facebook Page, via their website http://www.staplehurstvillage.org.uk/carnival_fete.aspx Meanwhile, here’s a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone in making this event such a success year after year.
