TV show treats mum to a surprise makeover

-

A brave mum who battled with breast cancer was treated to a surprise makeover on national TV ahead of her daughter’s wedding.

NHS worker Gail Arnold was ambushed in her King Street office by a camera crew, before fashion presenter Mark Heyes whisked her to Fremlin Walk for a spot of retail therapy ahead of the big day.

It was part of a Mother of the Bride makeover segment for ITV’s Lorraine, which aired on Friday.

Mrs Arnold was nominated by daughter Natalie Ralph, 27, who said she wanted to give her mum back some confidence in time for her sister Rachel’s wedding in September.

Mrs Arnold, from Whitstable, was diagnosed with breast cancer and spent several years fighting the disease.

But now she is recovering well and looking to the future.

The mum-of-three said: “I was completely bemused when the TV crew turned up, I had no idea what was going on and couldn’t work out how they got into my office.”

Mrs Arnold’s family, including husband Mark, were in on the surprise.
