Garden offers a tranquil respite

-

A new garden offering a quiet place for prayer and contemplation has been opened at Archbishop Courtenay Primary School.

The Bishop of Dover, the Rt Revd Trevor Willmott, unveiled the new plot with pupils and school governors plus representatives from the Diocese of Canterbury in Eccleston Road. It was named the Romney Garden, after the Earl of Romney, who provided funding for the project.

Children from the Eccleston Road school helped design the garden, which includes flowers, wind chimes and a sculpture.

Sandra Morgan, school business manager, said: “The school council supported by our family liaison officer, Tracy Gooding, were involved in the design of the garden which will be a peaceful and tranquil place for prayer and reflection. The garden contains a solar powered water feature, scented plants and flowers.”
