A fighting argument for veganism

-

Maidstone’s first vegan festival is pulling no punches, welcoming boxer Dan Woodgate.

Dan is one of the UK’s top 20 cruiserweights and a vegan. He will be joining a raft of speakers at the family-friendly event, which includes bands, face-painting, street food stalls – and even vegan ‘fish’ and chips!

His 45-minute talk will see him tackle topics from nutrition for athletes and non-athletes to responding to questions from those curious about avoiding meat, fish and dairy products.

Dan Woodgate says: “I’m looking forward to hitting Maidstone Vegan Festival – as a proboxer people are often surprised that I chose a plant-based diet, but I want to prove that it’s a great choice for everyone.”

Felicity Stone, event organiser, said: “There are so many misconceptions about veganism. Dan Woodgate speak means we’ll be able to deal these a knockout blow – showing that you don’t have to fit the stereotype to follow this healthy lifestyle.”

A £2 entry will be payable on the door at Union Street Methodist Church, with under 16s free (must be accompanied by an adult). The event will take place tomorrow (Saturday) from 11am to 4pm.
