Kmfm’s Emma and Garry enjoy a day at the races
Traditional races, a carnival atmosphere and Olympic values were some of the ingredients of schools sports days.
Brunswick House Primary School, in Leafy Lane, welcomed two special spectators – kmfm presenters Garry Wilson and Emma Adam.
The school won a competition run by our mykentfamily.co.uk site to have the radio station take part in the sports day fun.
Their day, held on Friday, saw the pair join 420 pupils and hundreds of parents in the sun.
Coregeo in Wateringbury, a company working with fresh produce brands, arranged for the young athletes to tuck into Pink Lady apples.
Pupils competed in four houses: Hazlitt; Woodville; Wyatt and Romney.
Olympic and Paralympic values including friendship, respect, determination and equality were on display at Five Acre Wood School.
The school chose to have to mark the Olympic and Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro with four days of themed activities.
Each class represented a different country as children dressed up in the nation’s colours and learned about its culture.
Activities included water challenges, chariot ball, fencing, tri golf and athletics events.
Kelly Davies, PE lead, said: “It has been wonderful to see the children enjoying themselves so much while challenging themselves physically and trying new things.”
The school, in Boughton Lane, Maidstone, caters for pupils aged four to 19 with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties.
Three primary schools celebrated next month’s Olympic Games with a special carnival.
Music, dance, athletics and crafts skills were all on display at the event hosted at Molehill Primary Academy.
Students there were joined by those from Oaks Primary Academy and Tree Tops Primary Academy, part of the Leigh Academies Trust and the day saw a performance from a choir of singers from the three schools and a brightly-coloured procession.
Julie Palmer, the PE co-ordinator at Oaks Primary Academy, said: “It was our way of bringing all three schools together and celebrating the Olympic values.”
At Coxheath Primary School, in Stockett Lane, challenges included running races, eggand-spoon, sack races and hurdles.
Pupils competed in house groups and also tackled new tasks involving jumping through hoops and throwing bean bags, before Loose House was declared the winner. Parents, teachers and pupils later tucked into a picnic on the field.
