Grand effort by Maidstone

-

Maidstone Hockey Club hosted their annual charity sevens tournament last Saturday. Eleven teams took part and £1,000 was raised for the Maidstone Oncology Centre. Joint winners were the Gerry Hat-tricks, captained by Kenny Stibbles, and the Eric Katonas, captained by Matt Emery. Lloyds Bank also had teams in action as did Sekisui and Bower Grove School. The event could not have taken place without volunteer umpires Ella Collie, Barry Coffey, Steve Rawlings, Jon Norman, Mike Smith, Hannah Durston, Julie Davis, Stibbles and Mick and Wendy Emery. Maidstone chairman Matt Evans said: “This was a brilliant day of friendly hockey played in a good spirit. “Days like this make me proud to be a member of Maidstone Hockey Club.”
