Marden seal semi win

Marden beat Linton Park by 11 runs in a high-scoring Weald of Kent League under-13 semifinal. Winning the toss, Marden posted 134-2 with Ollie PayneCook 32 not out and Jacques Behling and Max Moen both retiring on 30. Harrison Fermor made 26 but the spin of Ollie Payne Cook (1-11) and Max Moen (3-31) kept Linton’s run-chase in check. It completed a good week for Marden who made 133- 4 in a 47-run league victory over Staplehurs­t. Cranbrook under-13s completed a 24-run win against Mote Colts. Jack Callow scored 42 and Archie Fairfax-Ross 32 not out as Cranbrook closed on 111-8. The Mote were 87 all out in reply, Finn Sprent taking 2- 6 in four overs. Bearsted beat Hollingbou­rne by nine runs in the under-16 league. A composed 49 not out from opener Charlie Luxton, supported by Lewis Pateman (22), helped Bearsted reach 129-7. Kieran Young and Leo Charlton took two wickets apiece. Hollingbou­rne fell behind the rate in reply and despite a late flurry from Sam Kingsman-Ali (33 not out) and Harry Bone (27 not out), they finished short. Jacob West starred with the ball for Bearsted, taking 3-12. Nine runs was also the margin of victory when Linton Park met Teston in an under-16 friendly. Tobey Castle retired on 51 after hitting seven fours and a six as Linton made 98-2. Ollie Eaves (23 not out) picked up the run-rate but Teston closed on 89- 6.
