Davies no longer required

Defender Callum Davies is free to leave Maidstone.

The centre-half has been placed on the transfer list by boss Jay Saunders, who is also open to a loan move.

United spent weeks negotiatin­g Davies’ release from Gillingham midway through last season.

He finally signed an 18-month contract but lost his place and has dropped further down the pecking order following the summer signings of Kevin Lokko and Anthony Acheampong.

Davies, a League 2 title winner at Gills, has vowed to fight for a shirt but it seems his time with the National League new boys may be up.

Saunders said: “We’ve made Callum available, whether that’s a permanent transfer or on loan.
