JAY LETS TRIALISTS GO

-

Jay Saunders has ended interest in trialists Bayan Fenwick and Callum Emptage. Striker Fenwick scored twice in Maidstone’s 6-1 win at Folkestone while Stones were keen to look at full-back Emptage following his release by Gillingham. Manager Saunders said: “Bayan likes to play the No.10 role but we’ve brought in Ben Greenhalgh, who does that well and we’ve also got Alex Flisher and Jack Paxman who can play there. “For me, they’re better players. Bayan’s definitely got ability but they’re ahead of him at the moment. “Callum Emptage is a young lad who needs a season of playing. If he came here he’d struggle to get past Callum Driver, which won’t do him any good. I think he’s going to Leatherhead to get some games.” Another trialist, known only as Marinos, was a second-half substitute at Welling last Saturday before starting Tuesday’s draw at Ashford. Saunders said: “He did all right on Saturday, not so well Tuesday. He’s been carrying a slight knee injury.”
