Golfers tee off for charity day

-

More than 70 golfers hit the fairways at a Bearsted golf course to raise funds for charity. The course at Tudor Park Country Club played host to the annual Headcorn Inbibers golf day, while there was also a dinner dance in the evening. Headed up by Paul Hughes and Jay Bray, it has raised more than £72,000 for Heart of Kent Hospice over the past 13 years. This year’s event looks to have raised roughly £5,000, and Mr Bray said: “It was a fantastic day with everybody participating in the various challenges around the course, including beat the pro and the penalty shot station.” Skinner’s Shot Station saw golfers have to drink a penalty shot of tequila, and make a donation to Heart of Kent Hospice, for any misdemeanours committed on the course. The event was in memory of Nigel Skinner, who received care at the hospice in Aylesford, and had helped recruit dozens of players for the golf days in the past. It was hosted by Emma English and Steph Hughes.
