Six accused of stables robbery plot

-

Six men have appeared in court accused of a conspiracy to rob a stable yard in Lenham.

Nana Danquah, Aaron Mayers, Jake Jenks, Connor Miller, Kieon Barker and Vincent Stickings are alleged to have raided Wheat Gratten stable yard in Forstal Road between March 1 and April 27 this year.

Four others have also been charged over the incident on April 26 but were not in the dock for the plea and trial preparation hearing at Maidstone Crown Court.

Judge Jeremy Carey was told three should have appeared via a prison video link while the fourth had refused to leave his cell.

Danquah, 31, of The Shrublands, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, Mayers, 31, of Wick Road, Hackney, east London, Jenks, 22, of Allan Close, Tunbridge Wells, Miller, 20, of no fixed address, and Barker, 22, of Clonbrock Road, Stoke Newington, north London, all pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy charge.

They also denied having a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence on April 26

No charges were put to Stickings, 29, of Whinchat Road, Thamesmead, south east London.

The six men were flanked by seven dock officers. They were all remanded in custody.

Prosecutor John O’Higgins said at least three other men were expected to be charged and that two separate trials would have to be held because of the number of defendants.

The first trial, expected to start on October 26, will last up to eight weeks.

The second is not likely to be held until February.
