A former Maidstone wrestler and his producer partner have created a short film based on popular video game character, Max Payne.

Leroy Kincaide and Chloe Chudasama, from Aylesford, are self-taught filmmakers and have honed their skills through watching YouTube videos and lots of hard graft.

The 30- minute action thriller was created with a cast of 17 people and shot in Buddha Belly, Maidstone, and parts of Chatham.

The budget for the flick entitled Max Payne: Retribution, came in at a tiny £1,500 after an Indiegogo crowdsourcing campaign.

The Max Payne series sees the undercover fugitive framed for murder and set loose in the New York underworld, hunted by cops and the mob.

Newer versions of the story involves the character moving to Brazil and providing protection for a real estate mogul before events spiral out of control.

Mr Kincaide, a former Aylesford School Sports College pupil who works parttime as a bouncer, decided to move into the movies after a successful stint as a wrestler.

The 33-year-old quit the sport when he realised he’d progressed as far as he could in the UK and turned his talent to acting.

He has featured in Britain’s Hardest Men and in the hit film Prince of Persia. It is through acting that he met fellow Jon Campling who plays a death eater in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Miss Chudasama, 28, is a former Invicta Grammar School pupil who created art work and graphics for the event. She said: “Jon decided to take the lead role as he likes to help out on independent productions, which was really great. Leroy and I want to create something we were passionate about. It took five months of long nights and early mornings to complete the piece and there’s a trailer online.”

The ambitious pair now have plans to release the film in full in November.

To watch the trailer, which was released to coincide with 15-year anniversary of the video game release, see their Facebook page, www.facebook.com/maxpayneuk
