Tributes to man stabbed to death in party resort

-

Tributes have been paid to a 22-year-old man, who was stabbed to death in Cyprus.

George Low, of Dartford, died and his friend was badly injured in a horrific attack in Ayia Napa.

He suffered fatal neck injuries while out in the popular clubbing area in the early hours of Sunday.

His friend’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

It was being reported the pair were targeted following an argument earlier in the evening and local police were continuing their hunt for the killers.

Friends paid tribute to the young man, who is believed to have worked at the resort last summer but had moved back to Kent and was visiting friends when he was attacked.

Friend Dean O’Keefe, 21, said George was part of the “Napa Family” who worked in the party resort on the Mediterranean island. He said: “The whole community are in shock. George was very funny, the nicest man you could ever meet. He was very popular and worked in many of the bars over about two years. He never got into any trouble.”

His parents – dad Martyn, 55, and mum Helen, 47 – are now arranging for George’s body to be flown home.

Donations of more than £11,000 have been made via two fundraising pages.

Investigating officers issued arrest warrants for two Turkish Cypriot men, aged 22 and 43, on Tuesday night.

A woman was due to appear in court yesterday (Wednesday). The 49-year-old, from Larnaca, was arrested on suspicion of helping them flee to the north of the country.
