Three riders from San Fairy Ann have broken the club record for distance covered in a 12-hour ride. Martin Foord, Mike Piper and Shaun Williams rode 755.18 miles at the ECCA 12-hour Championship, starting from Saffron Walden in Essex. The previous SFA record, set back in 1965, was 739 miles but Piper (268.7 miles), Williams (257.5) and Foord (228.98) overcame punctures, stomach pain and aching joints to raise the bar. Geoff Wiles and Russell Crowe rode in event eight of the Ciclos Uno Summer Series at Hog Hill in London. Russell just lost out in the D category sprint but Wiles won the sprint for first overall as well as winning the G category. Wiles was joined by Dick Naylor at the Derek Witt Memorial road race in Hampshire. Both won their respective categories, Wiles nailing the bunch sprint for second overall with Naylor crossing the line fifth.
