Beginning at 10am, the half-day, five-mile walk will cover the Lamberhurs­t area, including Scotney Castle. Fun Fair: Shayler’s Fun Fair opens on Friday, September 2, from 6 - 9.30pm at the King George V Playing Field, Walnut Tree Lane. It also will be open from from 2-9.30pm on Saturday, September 3, and 2-6pm on Sunday, September 4. Annual Fete: On Saturday September 3, at the King George V Playing Field, the Loose Fete and Fun Dog Show will be taking place from 1.30-5pm. Dog show registrati­on begins from midday (£2 per class, with a maximum of 25 entries per class, and a free goodie bag for all entrants from Vets4Pets). This year’s event has a ‘Kings and Queens’ theme, with a £50 cash prize for the best-dressed, themed stall. Those who live in the parish should have received a free copy of the fete programme, courtesy of Nellsar Care Homes. Bring the programme to keep abreast of the afternoon’s activities. Throughout the afternoon, this year’s fete offers plenty to see and do, including a variety of interestin­g stalls. The dog show features 10 classes, which will once again be split into two parts (details on the fete website). Children’s games in the main arena start at 2.45pm. Organisers hope that you will choose to walk to the venue, but parking is available on the field at £1 per vehicle (the main car park will be closed). Carnival Fun Day: Come along to our annual Access for All family fun day event on Saturday 3rd September from 10am - 1pm at Maidstone Market Hall, Lockmeadow. Everyone is welcome to come along and take part in the fun. We will have ots of activities for all including a bouncy castle, face painter, live samba band, carnival stalls and sports demonstrat­ors. There will be a fancy dress competitio­n for children under 12. The best costume will win a voucher to spend in Smiggle! We are looking for the best outfit with a Rio carnival theme. The event features Kent based organisati­ons offering to take to the water in boats or kayaks with expert help and informatio­n about how to get involved with the sport. Horticultu­ral Society Show: All are welcome to our Seasonal Show, starring Vegetables and Dahlias, and also including other flowers and fruit, floral art, cookery and crafts on Saturday 3rd September from 1.30pm – 4pm at the Baptist Church Halls, Knightride­r Street.
