The study day on Monday September 12 will be ‘Shieldbugs’, an introducti­on to a diverse, fascinatin­g and pretty group of insects. Learn about their life-cycle and ecology, where and how to find them and how to identify the common species as well as the more recent colonists. Discover how you can contribute to an ‘Atlas of Shieldbugs and allies of Kent’, led by Jonathan Barnard, Entomologi­st. Leaders are knowledgea­ble in their own topics but are also pleased to discuss other points of interest as these arise. We aim to create a relaxed atmosphere in which everyone can progress at their own speed. All can enjoy the company of others with similar interests. Normal fee per person per day is £27, £5 off for Kent Wildlife Trust registered volunteers, senior citizens, unemployed and students. Booking Wildlife Study Days, to save time please send the full fee when booking. You will be sent details of the day, together with informatio­n on where to meet, what to bring etc. If your chosen day is fully booked we will return your cheque. There is an administra­tion charge of £5 if you cancel a booking at the time. The poor puss has had a rough time of it, following a nasty accident which resulted in the loss of one eye. But apart from that he is a fit and healthy boy with lots of love to give. He would suit a home with older Autumn Flower Show: The final Sunflower Challenge is now only two weeks away, and any child who has managed to grow anything this year deserves a prize – so, if their Sunflower, whether sized 10mm or a whopping 20cm, is still alive or finished flowering weeks ago, please, please bring it along to the Village Centre,
