Everyone is welcome to attend. Ride and Stride: The Friends of Kent Churches Ride and Stride is on Saturday September 10. All ages are welcome to join in this event. More than 400 churches in Kent are open to ride or stride between 10am and 6pm. You can go to as many of them as you want to in any order. If cycling, ensure that you are road safe with bright colours, helmet. Details of the event, list of participat­ing churches and sponsor forms are available from Gary Neville phone 7872766. Gary will make a ride to Yalding in a circle around the Medway covering 11 churches and anyone who would like to join him is welcome and should meet him at St Nicholas Church by 10am on the day. There will be plenty of drinks on offer at each church. St Nicholas Church will welcome Riders and Striders so if anyone would like to volunteer to be on a rota for an hour or two on the day contact Gary Neville on 7872766. Holiday chat: The over 50s Get Together sessions resume in the Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 14 from 2.30-4pm, when there will be a chance to share some holiday pictures, have a chat and enjoy a time of fellowship together with some refreshmen­ts. A suggestion for next year’s destinatio­n under considerat­ion (a visit to Colchester Zoo) won much approval. Ready, steady: Ride and Stride is on Saturday, September 10, when a great deal of physical effort will be made with the aim of assisting church funds. Those in the thick of it, the cyclists and walkers, are asked to sign up as many sponsors as possible. Planning a good route is a key factor with areas where many churches are congregate­d ideal for those on foot while comparativ­ely flat zones are favoured by cyclists. Half of the money raised goes to the church nominated by the par- ticipant and the other half to the Friends of Kent Churches. Eat and listen: Saturday, September 17 is the date of the next breakfast for men in the Rectory, Church Lane. The breakfast is from 8.309.30am and will be followed by a half-hour talk by the Rev Matthew Buchan on his experience­s as an auxiliary RAF chaplain. Space is limited so if you wish to attend, phone 726263 to ascertain the position. A donatin of £2 is suggested. Thanks: The royal picnic held at Scraces at the start of July raised £730 for St Margaret’s four missions. The event was held courtesy of Anne and Michael Passmore.
