Two-piece saddle up at the Mote for latest video
A two-piece punk band whose meteoric rise over the past two years has seen them nominated for the Mercury Prize and perform to thousands have returned to their roots for their latest video.
Slaves – made up of Maidstone’s Laurie Vincent and Tunbridge Wells’s Isaac Holman – mounted a tandem with a boombox fixed to the handlebars and pedalled around Mote Park.
The duo, both 23, were filming at the park for their latest single Take Control, which has been released ahead of their second album of the same name, which comes out at the end of the month on Virgin EMI.
The two-minute track follows a similar shouty, guitar-driven blueprint to last year’s Top 10 debut album Are You Satisfied?.
This will no doubt please their rapidly-growing fan base, which includes the likes of singer Rob- bie Williams and footballer Peter Crouch.
Mote Park was first mentioned by the pair before a wider audience when they covered grime star Skepta’s hit Shutdown in Radio One’s Live Lounge.
Guitarist and former Oakwood Park, Sutton Valence and Maidstone Grammar School pupil Vincent asked vocalist and drummer Holman “Have you ever been to Mote Park when it’s shut down? It’s so lovely.”
This year the pair have enjoyed phenomenal success, picking up an NME award for their Cheer Up London video and performing on the main stage at Reading and Leeds festivals.
This autumn they are embarking on a 15-date UK tour, starting off on November 10 at Bexhill’s De La Warr Pavilion and navigating Britain before finishing with a two-night stay at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on November 29 and 30.
