Garden party helped by queue for TV

-

A charity garden party with a personal touch went down a treat with friends and neighbours.

Susan Dossett organised afternoon tea and cake to raise money for Breast Cancer Kent, a charity supporting those with the disease.

The charity is raising money to buy a 3D scanner for Maidstone Hospital. Mrs Dossett, 64, has been receiving treatment at the hospital for the last few years, having first been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004.

Her husband Alan proved his worth for the cause when he queued up from 2.30am to be the first through the doors of the new Aldi store on Hermitage Lane. His five-anda-half hour wait for the store to open paid off, as he won a television for a raffle prize. This was won by Hannah Smith, a friend of the couple.

The couple, of Rectory Lane, Barming, raised £830 from the party on Friday, September 9, and they hope the public will continue to donate.
