Mixed fortunes for sidecar pair

-

After a six-week summer break, the British Formula one sidecar championship resumed at Donington Park for three 10-lap races. Maidstone’s AMR/Blue/ Fileder team of driver Matt MacLaurin and passenger Adrian Hope looked good in the free practice and qualified in 10th for Saturday’s first race before improving to claim a superb fifth place Hopes were high in the camp for Sunday morning’s second race. Starting in fifth, the pair again had a good start but early into the opening lap they were involved in a collision with rivals Archer and Thomas who had spun in the fast Craner Curve with both sets of riders thrown out of their sidecars as they overturned. Matt and Adrian were battered and bruised but were checked over by the medical staff at the circuit and given the all-clear, though due to the damage to their sidecar they were unable to compete in the third race.
