Byrne in charge

Shane Byrne has taken charge of the British Superbike Championship after a Donington double. Byrne won both races in the opening round of the end-of-the-season Showdown on Sunday. The Sittingbourne rider went into the weekend three points behind Leon Haslam but now leads his main title rival by 27 points with five races left. The penultimate round of the championship is at Assen in Holland on October 2.
