A student is re-thinking her career path after securing a recording contract with a music company.

Rosie Ebsworth, who is doing her A-levels at Invicta Grammar School, had been planning to go to university to read modern languages.

But the 17-year-old singersongwriter is now considering her future after being contacted by a talent scout for FHS Music Production.

During the summer break she went on holiday to Lanzarote with her family and on her return found the company had been desperately trying to speak to her after spotting recordings of her performances on the Starnow website.

She said: “I had taken a bit of a break from my music while I concentrated on my A-levels, but I had just been saying to my parents how much I missed it, when we got the call.”

After an audition with the company, Rosie has been assigned her own agent, and invited to record her first EP during the school half-term break.

She said: “I’m very excited! I’ve been working on my own original songs and also writing new songs.

“The company is talking about releasing a debut album next year.”

The talented youngster has been “singing seriously” since she was 10, taking part in open- mic competitions and music festivals.

Rosie, who plays guitar and piano, says her biggest musical influence is Adele, who inspired her to start writing her own songs.

She is studying chemistry, French and Spanish at the school in Huntsman Lane, Maidstone, and learns dance at the Italia Conti in Chislehurst every Saturday.

Agent Sascha Droeschel said: “Rosie is a very talented performer and the company has agreed to spend up to £150,000 promoting her over the next 24 months.”

FHS Music Production has previously supported acts such as Avril Lavigne and Sigala.

Rosie, who lives in Wrotham, has the full support of her parents Denise and Darren, who are used to having show business in the family.

Rosie’s brother Oliver, aged 10, is an actor and has already appeared in commercials for Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and McDonald’s and had a part in Casualty.
