A meal at The Good Intent for the winners and a bottle of wine for the top three winning tables. Maximum of six per table. Tickets at the bar on the night. 100 club winners: The Friends of Yalding Church 100 club made their monthly draw last weekend. Celia Craske came first with number 92, Chris Buffy second with 12 and Sue Crompton third with 56. The next draw will be held on November 6. For information, call Richard Young on 01732 669782. Baptist events: On Sunday, October 9 at 10.30am morning service with Treasure Seekers Sunday School takes place at the Baptist Church. Public exhibition event: On Monday, October 10 from 4.30-8.30pm at the village hall, Countryside Properties is to exhibit its plans for a residential development at Vicarage Road. This will make matters clear to the local community and provide feedback to the team. Do go along to find out what could happen and to express your opinion. Village Pensioners’ Club: The VCP welcomed back founder of the group Anne Ervin at the last meeting. The club meets again on Tuesday, October 11 from 2-4pm at the village Social Club. Chat, laughter, bingo and tea will be on offer to members new and old. Just

go along and give it a try. Little Fishes: The Little Fishes group of pre-school aged children with a parent or carer meets next on Monday, October 10 from 2-3pm in church. A Bible story, some music, an activity and a snack for the children, while the adults enjoy tea and chat. Call Rachel on 01622 817337 for information. Gallery celebration: On October 1, the Riverside Gallery celebrated its first season as an art gallery in style. The September artists plus many other visitors toasted the success of the project, as the October exhibition of pre-loved items started. If you have items you wish to sell or would like to make sealed offers for the items on offer be sure to visit the gallery. June will open those at the end of the month and acceptable sales will be arranged. The gallery will be open throughout the month on Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 2-5pm. Environment Agency presentations: If you have been flooded or are at risk of flooding, it would be worthwhile to visit the Environment Agency’s exhibition and explanation of why it has abandoned earlier plans to provide flood storage areas on the Rivers Beult and Teise. The exhibition will be open on Thursday and Friday October 13-14 from 2-8pm, and on Saturday 15 from 10am-4pm in St Peter & St Paul’s church (not at the village hall, as stated in the village diary). The Joint Parish Flood Group (JPFG), which includes Yalding and Laddingford parish council and the Medway, Beult and Teise Flood Group, is not content with the property level protection which was the EA’s latest suggestion, as with many of the houses this would be largely ineffective. With the support of MP Helen Grant and Maidstone Borough councillor Steve McCloughlin, the JPFG is challenging this decision, and we can all help by attending the exhibitions, asking questions and expressing our opinions. Youngsters’ football: With four home games and the under eights away at Vinters, this was a busy weekend of football. The team’s lack of experience and tired legs showed in the last 10 minutes of their game when after being 2-2, they narrowly lost. However, the boys showed promise with a good goal from Aiden, and Luke the goalkeeper was so good he was voted man of the match. The under 12s played their first ever game against Weald and stood up well despite an 8-0 score which really flatters the opposition. On Sunday, both the Under 13s and Under 14s lost, but the shining lights were the Under 16s, who despite only having a bare 11 players, won 3-1 to go top of their league. This weekend, the U8s are at home, Autumn’s here, but the only Conker the RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre want you to collect is this adorable guinea pig. She was abandoned along with her four sisters and is looking for her forever home. Conker is a little shy and will need some patient handling to Gilly Hurley Tel: Blue Bell Hill: 01622 790734 AylesfordEccles@aol.com Boxley: Alison Dickerson, 75 Chatham Road, Sandling, Maidstone, ME14 3BB Tel: 01622 762334 malcolm.dickerson@btinternet. com Ditton: 845825 mbriney.yoda@hotmail.com East Sutton: Mike Brine Tel: 01732 845825 mbriney.yoda@hotmail.com Grove Green: Jackie Nixon Mob: 07527 449540 jackie.kmlocal@hotmail.com Hollingbourne: Liz Willy , 108 Eyhorne Street, Hollingbourne, ME17 1UA Mob: 07928668924 elizabethwilly@btinternet.com Leeds: Mike Brine Tel: 01732 Mike Brine Tel: 01732 and the U12s at West Farleigh on Saturday, while the U13s are at home on Sunday morning.
