TV’s Angela praises work on dementia awareness

Dementia Friendly Awards make county a better place to live

schools, one of the regions was here in Kent – two of our first pioneer schools were here in this county.

“We now have just under 600 schools throughout Britain who are involved in our Dementia Friendly Programme, creating that dementia friendly generation.

“I’m thrilled for all the work the schools have done to make them more dementia friendly.”

Winners of this year’s awards, presented at the Isle of Sheppey Academy, Sheerness, on Monday, were: Sunshine Saturdays in Thanet for Intergener­ational Activity; Forget Me Not Cafes in Edenbridge and Westerham for Community Project; Thanet-based Bright Shadow Zest Project for Innovative team; Kent Wildlife Trust for Outreach Award; Forget-Me-Nots Group, East Kent for Partnershi­p Project; Co-op in Sandwich for Dementia Friendly Business; Sevenoaks District Council for Dementia Friendly Organisati­on; Tom Coppins from Maidstone Mentors for Inspiring Person Living with Dementia; Paul Murray, of the Oasis Academy, won The Emma Kent Dementia Award. for Outstandin­g Contributi­on, and Chris Norris from East Kent Forget Me Nots Group for Inspiring Volunteer.
