Parishes can put forward local heroes
We all know someone who works extra hard for their community. Now there is a chance to see their efforts acknowledged.
The Kent Association of Local Councils is looking for nominations for its Community Awards Scheme.
They can be made by Parish and Town Councils for a member of the public working or living within their boundary.
Councils make their own decisions about how they want to identify those who have made a significant contribution to the local community and there is no predetermined criteria for what that might be.
Among last year’s winners were a litter warden, a church warden, and soup kitchen volunteers.
Winners will receive certificates signed by the High Sheriff of Kent, Kathrin Smallwood, who said: “It’s a great scheme. It gives parish councils a chance to honour their local unsung heroes.”
The closing date for nominations is Friday, January 27, 2017.
