Solar panels for all new builds
With increasing development taking place on greenfield sites and solar farms being erected on good quality agricultural land, it’s about time solar panels are made to be part of the planning process on all new future developments.
Travelling along the M1 motorway, it’s possible to see large distribution centres for major suppliers built on greenfield sites where solar pans should be put onto roofs.
Such things are done elsewhere. A new hangar to assemble the latest Airbus in Toulouse has enough panels on the roof to produce half the electricity to be used for the assembly of the plane.
We produced 90% of our food in the mid-1980s, which is now down to 61%.
With an increasing population it is not difficult to see a time ahead when it will be difficult if we continue at the same speed to reduce our farming areas.
Every area should be utilised for solar panels – village halls, barns, schools, leisure centres and libraries. Gordon Sencicle, Alfred Square, Deal.
