lester.gosbee@btinternet.com Last weekend was much sunnier than predicted, showing off the spectacular display of autumn colours. The clocks go back this weekend to Greenwich Mean Time, which is a personal pet hate of mine as I believe that it contributes to seasonal affective disorder. Only one inch of rain has fallen so far this October, our driest October since 1998. Arable farmers are getting concerned about the lack of rain needed for germination. Not much rain in the coming week. Today (Friday): Where there are clear spells overnight, there could be local mist and fog first thing in the morning. It will be a rather cloudy day, but some bright spells at times. There will be a light southerly breeze of 3-7mph with temperatures at 16C (61F), above normal. Tomorrow (Saturday): A very similar day to Friday, but a little more breeze from the south at 5-9mph. This could break up the cloud more over the Downs and North Kent, where there could be some nice sunny spells. Temperatures will be a shade down to 15C (59F) at best. Sunday: Another day with a lot of cloud, but we should all see the sun at times. Winds south westerly at 4-9mph with temperature 15C (59F). Monday: There will still be the risk of some early mist. This will be followed by some broken cloud, so we will get to see the sun at times. Winds will be south to south westerly at times, 5-10mph, with temperatures at 14-15C (57-59F). Tuesday: A cloudy day, but with a few brighter spells. Winds will be light and south westerly. Temperature 14C (57F). Wednesday: A cold front will bring some showery rain followed by a cold northerly air stream. It will, however, be a bright day with frost at night. Temperature 13C (55F). Thursday: A frosty start to the day, but becoming bright with a variable amount of cloud, which will melt away by late afternoon. The temperature will be 11C (52F) below average.
