Healy off to Whites?

-

Joe Healy is set to make a shock move from Maidstone to Dover. Stones boss Jay Saunders expects Healy to leave but has questioned Whites boss Chris Kinnear and his No.2 Jake Leberl for not informing him of their approach. Healy was due to make his United comeback against Macclesfield last weekend after missing the first three months of the season. But that was put on hold when the midfielder, pictured below, told United there had been interest from National League rivals Dover. A seven-day approach followed last Friday and Saunders believes Healy will make the switch. Saunders played under Kinnear and alongside Leberl at Margate. He said: “I think it’s done, I’m just disappointed in the way it’s been dealt with. “It could have been handled a lot better. “When you’ve known Jake and Chris as long as I have, the least you expect is a phone call but I’ve heard nothing from them at all. “Most managers will tell you that nine times out of 10 you get a call to let you know if someone wants your player, just out of courtesy.” Healy starred as Maidstone won promotion to the National League but various commitments meant he was unavailable at the start of this season. Stones had been looking forward to having him back. Saunders said: “There’s players we’ve not signed who we could have got if we didn’t think Joe was coming back. “Nothing surprises me in football but I am a little surprised by Joe. “After knowing we’d waited for him, I didn’t think he’d do that.”

Stones’ home game against Dover on New Year’s Day will be shown live on BT Sport (6pm).
