Light Up a Life 2016: Remember and celebrate the life of someone special and support Heart of Kent Hospice. Every year the hospice invites the community to gather together to look back on the lives of those no longer with us and celebrate the wonderful moments we shared together. This year’s Light up a Life celebratio­ns will take place on Sunday November 27 at 4.30pm in Heart of Kent Hospice’s Garden, Preston Hall, and Sunday December 4 at 4.30pm at The Friars, Aylesford Priory. So on Monday, November 14, in place of A Gallup Through the History of Carriage Driving, Peter Skinner has stepped in with a history of Croydon Airport. Take-off will be at 7.45pm in the village hall, Heath Road. Christmas fair: The St Margaret’s Christmas Fair has been arranged for Saturday, November 26 from 2-4pm in the village hall, Heath Road. Festive fun for everyone is the slogan with games, a quiz, Photobox, tombola, nearly new stall raffle. Cakes, preserves and refreshmen­ts will be included. There will be no entry charge. Open day: At West Borough Primary School on Thursday, November 17 from 9.30am. Meet head Mrs Crittenden and the rest of the staff, and take a tour of the premises including the newly refurbishe­d classrooms. Entry is via Greenway, which is off Queens Road. Get away: On Saturday, November 12, you will be able to stroll down church Lane straight into the Mustang area of Nepal guided by Sue and Derek Rowell. They will take you into this exceptiona­l region, in the rain shadow of the Himalayas but with desert scenery. Go along to St Margaret’s church where the picture show starts at 7pm. Christmas cards: A meeting has been arranged for Tuesday, December 6 at 9am in St Andrew’s Church, to deliver Christmas cards as usual.
