Eighth loss in a row for struggling Bulls

FOLKESTONE AYLESFORD

-

In a near-identical display to last week’s defeat, Aylesford started well at Folkestone only to implode at crucial moments. It’s now eight losses in a row for the Bulls, who are bottom of London 3 South East. Within three minutes, hooker Ben Pass crossed in the corner from a lineout with fly-half Dion Comerford converting to make it 7- 0. Bulls heads were up but a Folkestone penalty and a converted try brought the score to 10-7. A bizarre yellow card for the ever-industrious Comerford, who may be the first player in history to be sin-binned for an offence committed while receiving treatment, gave the home side some breathing space. For the second time in two weeks, Bulls switched off and the floodgates opened in the run up to half-time, trailing 31-7. Seemingly out of it, Bulls started the second half as they had the first, piling on the pressure from the off, with Comerford intercepting and crossing for an unconverted score. Bulls started to believe a comeback could be on but their dreams were dashed when winger Tyler Babb saw yellow after reacting to an elbow to the face. With the visitors again a man down, Folkestone took their chances, running in three unanswered tries to bring the final score to 48-12. Bulls welcome Farnham to the Jack Williams Ground for the second round of the Senior Vase tomorrow (Saturday). Aylesford: Tyler, Babb, Proctor, Watts, Mackenzie, Comerford, Carmillet, Merlini, Pass, Jalink, Tenters, Corbett, Fitzpatrick, Sutton, Gray. Replacements: Matata, Durrant.
