YOUTH FOOTBALL: MINORS BEAT FAMILIAR FOES TO KEEP LEAGUE CUP HOPES ON TRACK

Ditton Minors beat clubmates Ditton Rangers 9- 0 in the Maidstone Primary League under-12 Ladybird Cup.

Riwaaj Gurung and Cameron Bath scored hat-tricks, with Owen Green (2) and Rhys Wenborn also on target as Minors reached the quarter-finals.

Alfie Barnes was Minors’ player-ofthe-match.

Yalding & Laddingfie­ld are through to the quarter-finals of the under-13 Challenge Cup after a 4-2 win over Sittingbou­rne Lions.

Steven Pettican scored a fifthminut­e penalty but it was 1-1 at half-time.

Jamie Flintan set up the second for Donn Cameron, then Pettican pounced on a mistake for 3-1.

Lions scored direct from a corner but James Springall restored the twogoal lead after intercepti­ng a miscued clearance. Yalding: Makin, Joe Flintan (Thornton), Mooney, Griffin, Fox, Hutchins, Springall, Smith, Cameron, Jamie Flintan, Pettican.

Ditton Minors claimed their second Division 1 scalp in the under-14 Challenge Cup, beating Barming Youth on penalties. Keeper Ben Wilson saved the final kick as Minors won the shoot-out 5- 4.

Charlie Wildish had scored for Ditton in a 1-1 draw, with James de Garis, Lee Thompson, Evan Price, Sam Perry and Tam Tabe successful from the spot.

Ditton moved into the next round of the under-15 League Cup thanks to a hat-trick from Eddie Phillips in a 3-1 home win against Barming Youth.

Bailey Driver set up two of the goals, while Dean Mulcahy laid on the other.

Fraser Lee saved two penalties and scored one as Bearsted beat Welling 10-9 on spot-kicks in the Kent Youth League under-18 Challenge Cup.

The game went the distance after a 1-1 draw, Kieren Patel Bears’ scorer.

Tom Lindsey held his nerve to score the winning penalty and send Bearsted through to the quarterfin­als.
