Designer’s delight as products go on sale in top stores

A designer and business owner is celebrating after some of his products were chosen to go on sale in two major stores.

Daniel Savage is the creator of Lund London, a luxury homeware brand operating from Bearsted, offering stylish storage solutions and accessories.

Just nine months after the business launched, the 34-year-old has managed to get his products stocked in stores in 22 countries, and 170 independent retailers across the UK.

Most notably however, Mr Savage’s Flash Tidy Trays went on sale in three branches of The Conran Shop in September, and in the last few weeks he has signed a deal with Selfridge’s.

He said: “I’m beyond thrilled. Stores like this really are the pinnacle of any British design business.”

The former St Simon Stock pupil came up with the idea for the business after spending many years in product development for high street brands, but feeling there was something missing from the high street approach.

“You know when you think ‘I can do this myself’? I made the decision to take the plunge and started going to trade fairs and shows,” he explained.

Mr Savage, who lives at Bearsted Green, spends a lot of time travelling around to trade fairs, meeting clients, and selling products.

“Having only launched in February, I can’t believe the client base we’ve managed to pick up. It really is full steam ahead,” he said.

And the designer isn’t stopping there, with plans to launch new product lines in February.

“We’ll soon be launching a range of watches, which I’m really excited about. Like most men I love watches, and although it’s a really competitive market, I can’t wait to get started,” the 34-year-old said.

“That said, we don’t want to be everywhere. We’re really trying to keep our feet on the ground and pick the right partners for the brands.”
