Woolly way to celebrate Christmas

-

A woolly winter wonderland awaits at the bottom of Maidstone High Street.

The area has been “yarn bombed” for Christmas, with various knitted items brightening up Remembrance Square.

A group of 13 keen knitters, known as the Woolly Maids, are behind the project, and they have been working tirelessly for months to get the garments and decorations together.

Zoe Sparkle, one of the yarn bombers, said: “We had some brilliant comments from the public while we were putting everything up. Some even thanked us for brightening up the square. This is the first time we have done a Christmas project and we’ve all really enjoyed getting into the spirit knitting snowmen and tree jumpers.”

The installation is on display until the first week of January and has been supported by One Maidstone, a group working to improve the town centre.
