30mph limit could be on the way

-

Drivers could face a slower speed limit on a stretch between East Farleigh and Tovil.

Brian Clark, the county councillor for Maidstone South, has sponsored two traffic schemes using money from his member’s budget.

The first is to impose a 30-mile speed restriction on Dean Street.

It will start near the junction with Lower Road and join the existing 30 limit on Farleigh Hill.

A second project is a 7.5 tonne weight restriction on five roads in the Lower Loose Valley in Tovil.

This would cover all of Bockingford Lane, Cave Hill, Hayle Mill Road and Teasaucer Hill, and the lower end of Cripple Street up to the junction with Broadoak Avenue, which have narrow twisting lanes.

Public consultation on the two proposals has opened. People can make their views known by emailing tro@kent.gov.uk, referencing Order No 1, 2016, for the weight restriction or Order No 26, 2016, for the speed restriction. The deadline is December 23.
