Bank handout to help shelter through winter

-

A national bank has given back to local people to support them through the winter period.

TSB has donated £125 to the Maidstone Churches Winter Shelter as part of its community pride programme, which aims to help causes bringing the community together.

The shelter provides free evening hospitality to homeless people in the town, including a hot meal and overnight accommodation.

The bank is giving more than £47,000 to organisations across the country.

Gaynor Drowley, manager at the Maidstone TSB branch, said: “We’re delighted to be able to help with this donation.

“We chose the shelter because of the important work it does by providing a warm bed and hot meal, and taking the uncertainty and stress out of trying to find overnight accommodation.”

Alexa Kersting-Woods, project manager at the shelter, said: “It’s great to see a national company giving their employees the opportunity to support a local cause.

“The money will really make a difference to us and to the community here in Maidstone.”
