‘danger Of divisiOn’

-

Chief inspector Michael Wilshaw, pictured, said the government should “not obsess” about a small number of grammar schools.

“If we just go down the road of grammar schools and secondary modern schools, we will go backwards. This country will fail if we just focus on the 20% or 30% of the most able. That is the great danger of division at 11.”

The government has provoked controversy by setting aside £200m for existing grammars to expand.
