Gima-ha add Dutch titles

Gima-ha Karate Club in Maidstone have done it again.

At the Dutch open championsh­ips, Dean Iddiols won kumite by beating Alfie Cragg in the final round by just half a point (wazari).

Iddiols also came third in kata, losing to Leah Chapman (second) and Megan Brunger (first).

Chapman was third in kumite and Brunger was second.

Bailey Brooks. Alfie and Angel Martin-West, Mia Kingston and Merrick Scott also went on to receive a medal.

Gima-ha went on to dominate the team divisions, with three teams entering. All three were placed first, second and third in kata and kumite.

Gima-ha have Kent, Scottish, UK and now Dutch champions.

Instructor Steve Edwards said: “I have been five times UK champion and now it’s their turn.”
