Rape inquiry bail extended

-

Six people arrested on suspicion of raping a young woman at a shopping centre car park have had their bail extended.

Police investigating the alleged attack at Bluewater on Mother’s Day have released four other suspects without charge.

The alleged victim, aged in her 20s, reported being attacked by a group of seven men between 6.30pm and 9pm on March 6.

She is believed to have been waiting for a bus when she was allegedly bundled into a van before being subjected to a threehour attack.

Ten suspects arrested in connection with the alleged rape had been released on bail until this week.

It has now been confirmed three men aged 18, two aged 20 and a 16-year-old boy have been re-released on bail until January 27.

No further action will be taken against two men aged 21, one aged 23, and an 18-year-old. A teenager was chased and stabbed nine times during a vicious attack in the centre of Chatham.

Perry Mulholland, 16, is in a stable condition in hospital, but his mum says doctors are worried about a bleed in his chest.

Two teenagers, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have been bailed pending further inquiries, until February 2.

Perry was attacked in the High Street on Friday night, and suffered a punctured lung and a machete was put into his back.

Detectives revealed Perry was hit by two cars then chased along the road and assaulted, but failed to disclose they were treating the incident as attempted murder and the teenager had suffered stab wounds.

It is understood the attackers were known to Perry, who is stable, and at a London hospital.

Two men aged 19 and 21, were also later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have been bailed until February 2.
