This traditiona­l service, complete with choir and orchestra, includes all your favourite carols and readings telling the Christmas story. On Friday, December 23 at 7pm, join in carol singing in Aylesford Old Village. There will be festive refreshmen­ts in the church afterwards. On Christmas Eve, there is a Christingl­e and Crib Service at 5pm. Christingl­e oranges will be given as a reminder of the Light of Christ coming into the world. Children will be invited to travel to Bethlehem and share in creating a live Nativity scene. Carols and Midnight Communion with start at 11pm. On Christmas Day, there is a Family Celebratio­n of Carols starting at 10am. The Friars: Seasonal services at the Friars are Christmas Eve, noon Mass and 11.30pm Carols followed by Midnight Mass. Mothers Communion: The Mothers’ Union will have Corporate Communion in Holy Cross Church on Wednesday, December 21 at 10am. Bearsted and Thurnham WI: This WI’s November meeting was busy with a guest speaker, the drama group performing a murder mystery, after which members had to guess the murderer, the Craft Group stall also selling Christmas goods. John Mills, a retired prison officer, spoke on Life Inside. A district event organised by and held at this WI’s premises proved a great success and was attended by at least 70 ladies. Julia Davis cooked a variety of Christmas food which was sampled by all at the end of the demonstrat­ion. In December there is the Christmas meal so the next meeting will be on January 25, when Antonia Gallop will be telling members all about Travelling Round India on a Motor Bike. Market: The farmers’ market selling produce and crafts will take place on Bearsted Green on Sunday, December 18 from 9am-1pm. Choral Society: The society presents Christmas in Bearsted, with carols and more plus audience participat­ion on Saturday December 17 at 7.30pm at St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Button Lane.
