The annual Turkey Run had something for everyone.

Sunday’s race, organised by Maidstone Harriers, brought together serious runners and those dressed to impress.

Held over six-and-a-half miles at East Malling Research, Medway & Maidstone runner Tom Collins won in 38min07sec.

Rhys Goddard, of Nene Valley Harriers (39.29), took second place, with M&M’s Richard Tomlinson (40.26) third.

Between 15 and 20 Harriers members took part, led by Paul Ahsunollah (35th, 47.54) and Keith Dean (39th, 48.05). There were 489 finishers. The fancy dress stakes were upped, with athletes from Petts Wood dressed as a nativity scene, while the Medway-based Rebel Runners turned out as a gang of turkeys.

Harriers c h a i rma n Matt Fraser said: “It went well. In terms of people dressing u p , don’t think I we’ve ever had more than we did this year. “It captured the imagination and there were prizes for best male and best female fancy dress and best team. “We had a good mix of club runners looking to run as fast as they could and those there for a laugh.” Ditton Scouts, Allington Guides and St Michael and All Angels Scouts assisted with marshalling duties. Harriers donated £ 350 to each group in appreciation of their efforts.
