Mental health plan praised
A Kent MP has praised the prime minister’s speech announcing a determination to improve mental health care.
Helen Whately, Faversham and Mid Kent MP, is the chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Mental Health.
She previously worked as a management consultant in health care.
She said her visits to schools and colleges had shown her how young people struggle to get treatment and she welcomed plans to train teachers to spot children who may be struggling.
But Mrs Whately warned that the next step was translating ambitions into actions.
