Witness plea over girl hit on crossing

A teenage girl was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing, leading to a police appeal for witnesses.

The incident happened on Monday, just after 4.30pm.

The 14-year-old was struck by a grey BMW on Loose Road, Maidstone.

Although the driver did stop at the scene, police are now asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

The girl suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital by paramedics.

She had been walking down Loose Road, close to the junction with Barton Road.
