Thief punished

A thief who took meat worth more than £300 has been sentenced. Matthew Gillett, of Cambridge Crescent, Maidstone, admitted seven counts of shoplifting, between the end of last year and January 4, from Morrisons supermarket in Sutton Road. He was sentenced to 90 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, by Medway magistrates. He must pay £274 compensation, £85 costs, and a £115 victim surcharge.
