All-female panto show proves popular at community centre
The Fairy Godmother turned a village hall into the set of a fairytale, as actors brought the story of Cinderella to life.
There was booing and jeering as the ugly sisters tried to thwart the panto star in her efforts to go to the ball, and cheers when she found her Prince Charming.
There were 65 people in the audience for the show at the Allington Community Association (ACA) centre in Castle Road on Saturday.
Paul Harris, secretary of ACA, said: “We put on something like this for the community every year as part of our Christmas entertainment. People reacted very well. The children really enjoyed it and there was lots of audience participation.”
The all-female show was the final performance date of the season in a touring production by Shooting Star Entertainments, which is based in Charlton Street, Maidstone.
The organisation said it had been its most successful year since being set up in 2007.
