‘Bastion of hope’ praised by MP

-

Maidstone’s homeless centre has been praised as a “bastion of hope” in the community.

Visiting the day centre in Knightrider Street, Maidstone and The Weald MP Helen Grant met volunteers and clients and helped serve lunch.

Mrs Grant said: “I praise the staff and volunteers for everything they do for the homeless, all-year-round.

“But at Christmas time they really pull the stops out. I was delighted to help serve a fabulous lunch and chat with clients who are at a low ebb in their lives.

“Their personal stories are often very sad and sometimes tragic, but the day centre is a bastion of hope, compassion and advice to help launch a fresh start in life.

“I hope to visit again soon.”
