Bizarre decisions over planning
Some of the decisions made by the town and rural planning committees are beyond belief.
I feel the committee should be obliged to explain its decisions in the press as some can be considered bizarre.
As a resident of Coxheath I question the permission to construct the dreadful building in the centre of the village replacing the old public house.
This design does not fit in with the local architecture, it is a three-storey carbuncle far more objectionable than a sore thumb.
Permission for the proposed solar farm on the outskirts of Staplehurst was rejected, partly due to local pressure saying it did not fit in, it was taking farmland out of production, it was an eyesore and it would destroy the drainage and create flooding.
None of these objections had much validity.
Sheep could still be grazed, the rainwater would drain and a hedge would hide the panels from passing motorists and pedestrians.
Coxheath has recently been blessed with a new housing estate much against the wishes of many local residents.
This has taken many acres of farmland which did allow water penetration and replaced it with house roofs, roads and forecourts none of which allow penetration.
Very soon any road drains will be blocked which is the current state of many Coxheath road grids.
I feel council’s planning committee has questions to be answered. DJ Massey Mill Lane, Coxheath
