The activities forming a winter festival at St Andrew’s Church are ONLY being run on Saturday, January 14 from 1.30pm–3.30pm. The WI offers women the opportunit­y to make new friends, learn new skills and campaign on wide-ranging issues. Visitors always welcome. Christmas Concert: St Peter’s Catholic Church was the venue for Bearsted Choral Society’s Christmas Concert. Many old favourite carols were sung by the choir and an enthusiast­ic audience joined in with gusto. The carols were interspers­ed with light hearted readings written by among others Dylan Thomas and Sue Townsend. The concert was conducted by Andrew Lowen with George Inscoe playing the organ. The addition of the talented student Holly Walker on flute presented some quieter moments. The next concert for Bearsted Choral Society will take place at the Friars, Aylesford on Saturday, March 25 at 7.30pm, when the choir will sing the Nelson Mass by Joseph Haydn and a Solemn Vespers by Mozart.
