A Sinatra tribute act invited elderly residents of a Tovil nursing home to come fly with him at a special evening of entertainment. Ian Gallagher did it his way when he paid a visit to Betsy Clara Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 8. The entertainer had previously taken his show, Classic Sinatra, onto the online series of Dragons’ Den, but was unsuccessful in his bid for a £40,000 investment. His performance at the Courtenay Road home was much more well-received, with Mr Gallager thrilling residents and staff with renditions of Ol’ Blue Eyes’ best known hits. Marion MacKenzie, inset, even kissed his hand. lester.gosbee@btinternet.com Some parts of Kent saw a little snow on Saturday morning with 1-4cm over the highest ground. The cold snap ended a little sooner than expected. Signs are showing that the weather will turn spring-like, but winter will return before February is over. Today (Friday): The day will start with thick fog, with visibility down to 50 metres in places, so take care. This will thin in the morning to give some afternoon sunshine. Winds will be 1-3mph, almost calm and westerly. Temperatures will be around 10C (50F), above average. Tomorrow (Saturday): A rather cloudy day with a few spits and spots of rain, mixed with the odd brighter slot. Winds will be westerly at 3-7mph with temperatures at 11C (52F). Sunday: Pressure will remain relatively high, so there will be a better chance of sunny spells. Winds will be southerly at 4-8mph with temperatures at 14C (57F), feeling quite spring like. Monday: A very similar day to Sunday, but possibly with more sunshine in a light southerly breeze. Locally temperatures will be at 15C (59F), and Gravesend could reach a temperature of 16C (61F), easily the warmest day of the year so far. Tuesday to Thursday: The weather will be mostly fine, but there will be cloud and some local showers. On clear nights, there could be ground frosts in the countryside, but there will also be some nice sunny spells, staying mild at 9-10C (48-52F) by Thursday.
